I’m 31 and have stuttered my whole life. I preach confidence all the time. In hindsight I wish my speech therapist in school worked on my confidence more than she worked on my stammer. I am actually in the midst of volunteering for our local school district and working along side the speech therapist in my free time. Kids need to see an adult that stutters and that they do just fine in life. The reality is once you get a certain age your stutter more than likely isn’t going away. You learn your own ways to deal with it though, and once you can TRULY gain confidence life gets so much better. Accepting my stutter is the best thing I have ever done in terms of my speech. Also, do scary things. Be uncomfortable sometimes. Raise your hand in class and answer a question from time to time. Take the job where you have to talk more often than you’d like. Sooner or later some of these things will feel routine and “normal”. My inbox is open and I am truly more than willing to help or you talk to any of you on here any way that I can.
