That sounds great! I haven't done it to that extent, but I do go over words being very mindful of what each muscle is doing, what sensations occur during every part of the process. Within that, I might feel tension somewhere so will allow the muscles to relax. So I get a deep awareness of how speaking should feel when everything is relaxed as it should be. Kind of like my own mindfulness-based speech therapy. I'm not sure I've tried purposely relaxing the muscles before that though, so I'll give it a go next time I've had some problematic sounds.
