Worked as a public area attendant for like a 3-4* hotel, first one in my area so it was a big deal; had NFL, NBA, actors come through that I didn’t see of course. I talked to everybody, I stuttered but didn’t care if I looked insecure or weak and I definitely was not expecting reactions. If someone was a jerk, what does that have to do with my stutter? They’re 8/10 times already a jerk anyway. I think my stutter is worse now actually, but don’t let it stop you. I could have improved my stutter a lot more while I was there if I had been more disciplined. For context: Most of my talking to strangers was short,”Hello” “Welcome to the Hotel(name of hotel)”. Would help them look for services or try to up sale one of the restaurants in the hotel I guess. Most people don’t say anything, and are intrigued by you if nothing else. I made good friends with co workers and knew almost all of the staff that I ran into names(chef, the hostess, bosses, guards, etc). The world is yours!
