that happened to me. Between 14 and 20 I kind of forgot about the stutter, but at 20 at university I learned I needed to do a big presentation, then i thought "I camt do that I have a stutter". speech went downhill since then until I went on a speech therapy course called Mcguire Programme that really helped. BTW, the presentation was a group effort, and my role got reduced to turning the lights on and off :-(
