Welcome to the Community OP! I found the best way I cope is exactly what you did, be open about your stutter - Let the person know who you are talking to that you have a speech impediment, then a normal person would be very understanding! Take your time, slow down, breathe and get through your stuttering moment. If someone gets upset that you are having a stuttering moment - Screw them.. IMO they aren't worth your time - I learnt this fast and found out who my real friends were! Just reset yourself in these moments, and come back into it with a fresh mind. I understand this is easier said than done as well.. If you would like to talk to someone, HMU - I am 22, guy from Aus that development a stutter over the past 12 months for no real reason the doctors can tell me. :)
