It's like saying you understand how your paraplegic friend feels because you broke your leg once. These are the same kind of people that will try to be a therapist to you and tell you to "don't be nervous, or talk slower". I feel like they aren't saying it to comfort you, they're saying it to comfort their uneasiness. I don't hold it against them or try to make them understand, because they won't. No one will, unless they chronically stutter like us.
