I'm a stuttering veteran but after the graduation from junior school I recovered a lot from it. I'm hoping my experience demonstrations can get someone some clues about what stutter is and how to recover. Actually I think I'm a hereditary stutterer from my father and my father's brother(In Chinese, his appellation is '伯伯'),but they seldom stutter and block in conversations with others.Interesting,I found my father's difficult sound LOL,is 'a'.(The Shanghaiese dialect expresses the *interrogative* *pronoun* 'where' as 'A Li',and sometimes he is prone to stuttering when spitting out the sound 'A') But in general, they are normal speakers and it seems like their slight stutters have never bothered them. I was innocent of stutter before I started imitating a vtuber who was also a slight stutterer, and the reason why I'd like to have imitated him because his voice is so mild and gentle, like chimes [jingle.So](https://jingle.So) I was obsessed with his voice at my 12 and that was bold and childish I know in my retrospections. I'm kinda regretting my imitations during that time just in order to form the voice like him.But luckily,my stutter was not very severe and nobody had ever been awared of my stutter in addition to my introversive personalities so as time flies,my stutter spontaneously disappeard step by step and I was feeling far more frequent than my speaking situations in my junior school life(I can remind that once I want to spit out a Chinese word starting with 'y' then I was stuttering and couldn't express it [explicitly.So](https://explicitly.So) I stop saying this word all of a sudden, which stirred up my classmates' puzzles). So I'm a little confused about whether my stutter was caused by genetics or imitations and anxious mental activities before speeches. If I was the former,I can't explain why after imitations,my stutter was formed step by step and finally ended up spontaneously with my anxious fading away. But what I wanna inform you is that stutter is not necessarily [irreversible.At](https://irreversible.At) least my speech was far more frequent than that used to be and I can't find any scientific evidences addressing that stutter is doomed to be irreversible and any recovery is delusive. It's not like limb amputations or physical deaths, which was observed by every person and proven by both universal acknowledges and scientific proof(I guess no one here will make a joke like there are chances of regerminations from amputations or resuscitations from deaths right?). So if just bc you can't recover from it,it doesn't direct others' destinies. Also,it's true that there are scientific proofs that have announced stutter is hereditary from **GNPTAB gene** but that sort of researches can't make any senses cuz not only are they devastating people's hopes of recovery but also they are kinda persuading stutterers out of reproducing.(In fact the other day I really saw a stuttering lady who wanted to sterilize) Remember researchers or other experts, you name them, are aiming for solutions and hopes,I name it,but not mental destructions or Nazi ideologies.I'm also skeptical about the prevalence of [stutter.Is](https://stutter.Is) it really only 0.8%?First off, every pedestrian is likely to be a stutter when you haven't heard them speak any words yet.Secondly,if they were only investigating it through the oral or written questioning, then stutterers can entirely avoid off admissions and inferiorities.Whoever is stuttering doesn't have attempts to admit he or she is stutterer to let the investigators condescend upon right?Thirdly, maybe some of respondents were just veteran stutterers like me,if they were stutterers and in the questioning they have got rid of stutter, then they will deny stutter just like I would like to do. Just like the height demographic polls,if you are a man under 160cm or woman under 145cm,would you like to leave a comment or vote to admit you are really that short? To recap, personalities and mental activities are really crucial factors of stutter reductions and I wanna quote an idiom concerning the essence of stutter:Stutter is 'trying not to stutter'. Besides,I can predict the first method that can universally solve stutter will be a *Psychotherapy* or *Cognitive* *Therapy*,not linguisticneural surgeries or something.Imagine a surgeon to manipulate your skull open and glancing at your nerves or sent you onto a electric chair\*.\* I guess few of people have got balls to accept these kinds of surgeries LOL. So I advice everybody still to focus on psychology knowledges and forget about anything about neuroscience or even pseudoscience like has ever elaborated stutterers' left hemispheres are more active than right ones or something.
