I’m very confused as to why he only has 10 days to make a decision. I understand little about arranged marriages, but from my experience in talking with folks whose marriages have been arranged, there’s not really a set timeframe like that. Sure, it’s arranged, but most traditional parents understand (or they should) that 10 days is not nearly enough time. Is it because he’s going back out on the rig? I don’t think we even need to reach the question about stuttering because you shouldn’t marry *anyone* after only 10 days. That said, if Tor and this girl get along well, then I don’t think the stutter should hold anyone back. You’re right that she was likely very nervous, and that can make stuttering *a lot* worse, so even though it was so bad that he couldn’t understand her, that could very well change. That said, if it doesn’t, not being able to understand your wife would be a barrier to a strong relationship. Edit: I would also strongly recommend that the girl enroll in speech therapy
