The Telephone My first post in the sub! I’m a 40 year old lifelong stutterer. Partial word, whole word and blocking (the one I fear the most!)Probably thought to be mild in adulthood, though I wouldn’t consider it so. I co-own a business and mostly get around my stutter by using my middle name, texting and emailing with clients, or making my business partner do the talking. The other day, I was writing this long, time consuming text message that became terribly convoluted and confusing and I was like “You know what?!?” Pausing. My business partner smirking, waiting for me to ask her. I looked her right in her face with a glare of defiance and pressed “Call”. I’m a grown ass woman! It took about 1.5 minutes compared to the 20 minutes I had spent trying to write a coherent text message. I booked the job and remained pretty fluent. My pulse was definitely up there when I hung up but I was low key impressed with myself, that I did it.
