This is a difficult task if you don't already know about speech therapy and what you need. The therapy should make sense to you and you should be able to explain the rationale for what you're doing. If something feels off or you question an aspect, ask or challenge it. A good therapist will be able to stand by their therapy and explain the rationale for what they want you to do. My red flags are anything related to "exercises", "techniques", "breathing" or a focus on fluency. Your SLP should ask you about your goals and not only assume you're there to stutter less. You can listen to the _StutterTalk_ podcast or _Open Stutter_ for examples of people who get it sound like.
