I think everyone is cognizant of the fact that having a stutter makes dating harder. But also if someone doesn’t want to date you cus you have a stutter, that’s a person you shouldn’t have wanted to date even if you didn’t have a stutter. The stutter just helps weed out the red flags even faster. And like yeah it’s super hard to make friends as a person with a stutter. It’s very hard to put yourself out there but what I’ve learned is you kinda just have to embarrass yourself. I went to a magic the gathering draft night simply cus I wanted to learn magic and meet potential friends. I embarrassed the hell out of myself with my stutter, but I made friends. I did the same for a volleyball training camp, I embarrassed myself with my speech AND lack of volleyball skill, but I made friends. You make friends putting yourself in vulnerable spots. Don’t try to cover up your stutter. It leads you to resenting yourself. Learn to introduce yourself with “oh btw I have a stutter”. You can have conversations with a stutter, I promise you. The only person that cares about your stutter is you. Accepting the stutter and learning to live with it is always better than letting it control you.
