I'm now 27 years old and have lived my whole life with a stutter. It was at it's worst when I was in middle and high school. It's not so bad anymore. You do get used to it or learn tricks to cope with it as time goes on. One of the most difficult things for me to learn is how to just be confident with it. Now when I'm in front of a big group, I simply tell them "I have a stutter, sorry if this is hard for you to listen to, it's even harder for me." Some people find it endearing that you're so up front about it.
