I’ve totally been there… I **always** stutter on my name. You can imagine how difficult it is to meet people, give introductions, etc. I used to see this as a major roadblock in my social life (especially in my mid-twenties). I then started to go with the flow and sorta put my own spin to introductions/giving people my name. For example, I work at IT and I always use my badge to identify myself — 1/10 times it gets awkward, but that only lasts a few seconds and it’s totally forgotten. If I’m doing food ordering, I preferably like to mobile order, but if I have to give my name I spell it out. When I find myself meeting new people, I spell it out for them, kindly mention I have a speech impediment and surprisingly they’re super understandable; the rest of the conversation just flows. What I’m trying to say is: don’t let it be a roadblock for your life. Recognize it’s there and think of creative ways to work around it. 😎
