Okay, a couple of things about this study. It’s not bad, but I’d like it to be double-blind to completely eliminate the bias, especially when you’re talking about giving drugs to someone. Also, 93 participants is a pretty small sample size. In general, before we should start saying “let’s prescribe drugs for stuttering,” there should really be some systematic reviews or a meta-analysis of the effects. I’m not saying it’s not interesting, but I feel like we are missing the overall point - stuttering doesn’t need to be cured. There is plenty of evidence that suggests a stuttering person can live a full, happy life with no obstacles. Easier said than done of course, you need a good SLP well versed in stuttering.
