Things were definitely rough in the past before I finally found someone and entered a committed relationship (3 years and counting). I worried I lost opportunities due to my stutter but there’s no way of knowing for sure. If there’s anything I’d recommend, it’d be owning it. From my own experiences, I’d start out by saying (in a joking tone) “Apologies in advance for any stuttering and general awkwardness.” Different things work for different people but for me, l felt better after quickly acknowledging the elephant in the room and moving on. It made any stuttering after that feel less awkward.
