Schools will always fight disability accommodations because it costs them time and money. I had a 504, basically a smaller IEP, and had to fight tooth and nail even for that. It got me speech therapy for my entire school career and allowed me to perform equivalent work instead of presentations or speaking portions of tests, like for language class. Generally this was write up the presentation and pass it in like a report. For language I would do more listening or reading/writing exercises. Hell, my sister was born legally blind and with physical deformities and it STILL took my parents fighting every single year to get and keep her IEP and hold the school responsible when they don’t follow it. It’s not easy, you have to fight and be your own advocate, but you *are* covered if you want to be.
