Hi everyone, my name is Maxine Meyer and I'm a student at the University of South Africa (UNISA) where I am busy with my postgraduate degree in Psychology. I am uploading this video to ask for help among other people who stutter to share with me their experiences and what kind of highs and lows their speech disorder has brought them. I belong to a group on Facebook for stutterers where I initially uploaded this video. This is to be part of a portfolio I need to submit in lieu of an exam. I have put this on youtube in order to easily link it into my portfolio so that my lecturers can mark it. I would appreciate any comments (even short ones) about how stuttering has affected your life, no matter where in the world you live, but for the sake of context, South African would be the best demographic, but again, all are welcome to comment. Lastly, I beg you not to laugh at me, this is the first public video I have made documenting my stutter in my life. I am a covert stutterer which means I usually get by only speaking using words I know I can speak fluently and leaving all the other words out or not speaking at all because I'm too scared of being ridiculed and teased. So, please go easy on me as this wasn't easy for me to do.
