What I learned in my years of relationships, be up front on how you feel about the annoying stuff. Many, including myself sometimes are forgetful that little things might offend the other person even though it was not their intention. I have been married 8 years plus 5 years in the relationship, I can't even recall the experience since my wife never really mind but then my stutter only comes out once in a blue moon now. She probably never noticed but I did tell her I stutter sometimes. When both know what annoys and offend each other, so we don't go into that territory but we do go all out and make fun of each other on other stuff.
