Started stuttering at age 12 and never went to speech therapy as a child. I sought out a speech therapist myself when I was in my 20s and he was a actually a dentist and former stutterer. He focused primarily on the psychological aspects of stuttering and how to combat them. It was very effective and gave me a lot more confidence in myself. I still have a very mild stutter but for the most part I have escaped the emotional hell that is stuttering and that was the most important part to me.
