Last month, in this [poll](https://www.reddit.com/r/Stutter/comments/12yiriq/do_you_stutter_more_or_less_if_you_speak_with/) 95 people who stutter (PWS) voted for "*I stutter* ***more*** *with family/friends (than with strangers)*" 108 PWS voted for "*I stutter* ***less*** *with family/friends (than with strangers)*" **Conclusion**: So, the result is almost 50-50%. Why do one half of the voters stutter more with family/friends? In my opinion, it may be cause of the unhelpful beliefs and attitudes that we have developed from our experiences (and other environmental factors). Like, we could feel more comfortable stuttering with a partner. This could then lead to '*so why should I focus on maintaining the forward flow of speech*'? While other people perceive that it's hard work to manage stress and instead, just gives up with stress management in compensation for more stuttering
