Thank you for sharing, a very interesting take. Apart from the pain of stuttering, I always felt a deep disconnect from myself, I even remember the moment when I lost this connection, and since then my stutter went over the roof. So I can totally relate to this. A few weeks ago I started to practice somatic listening, and focusing technique by Gene Gendlin. I’m not sure where it’s going yet, but it really resonates, as I feel it’s the best way for me to access this “true self” part - perhaps someone else can find it useful :) Was interesting to read this post, as somehow it speaks to the direction where I’m going with my stutter, it’s definitely more profound than just mechanical speech exercises, which can be useful but far from the full picture.
