I was going to post something weird but I thought it was pointless so I'll share here. When I was little I used to stand on my tiptoes in the pool with only my face stuck out of the water , ears submerged. The elongation of my body put stress on my lungs so I had to take deep breaths. One time my friend asked me a question and I responded while still submerged and I was really fluent. From then on I did it more and more, including making my mother exasperated when I'd say "what?, I couldn't hear you?" refusing to come to surface. I think the ears being submerged has something to do with it too.
