I didn't know they closed down. Do you know why they closed? I hadn't heard that. But, back to your comment, I understand and agree with what you said about the psychological impact stuttering has on you and overcoming that fear of speaking situations is something that's not gonna happen overnight. I feel like the way HCRI saw stuttering was from a purely mechanical point of view, in that if you just followed their techniques then you wouldn't stutter. But, as us stutterers already know, stuttering isn't a purely mechanical disorder of speech, it carries with it emotional baggage from a lifetime of stuttering. I know the clinicians mean well, but they don't fully understand everything about stuttering, since they've never been stutterers themselves. And also there was someone who'd been through their program 5 times!? Going to a 12-day program is a bit of a commitment and it's expensive. How did he afford it that many times?
