I've had that a few times, but in the last 10 years or so have found my first name easier to say. I went by my middle name in college for a year but stopped doing that. I get a lot of "did I just wake you up?" when people call me. I'm very slow with pleasantries, and I always make sure to answer when people ask how I am, and sometimes with cashiers they aren't really paying enough attention to understand what I said and it creates an awkward moment.
