I have recently started taking anxiety medication. I started having these really bad blocks while at work. Usually it would happen when I was on speaker (a headset we would have to wear to take orders) when I would start taking someone's order as normal and would start blocking really bad on some words or even sounds I had never previously had any problem with. When it started happening at home with my parents (my stutter is not very bad when talking to them) I knew I had to try something. I had read somewhere on Reddit that medication for anxiety can sometimes help reduce stuttering so I made an appointment. I had little hope in getting any help by myself, especially with my stutter having gotten worse but my mom said she would come with me. She did help quite a bit so I recommend bringing someone with you who you trust to help with the communication barrier. After just a half hour or so I had told my doctor my story and how my stuttering has gotten worse, yada yada. He asked me and my mom, if we thought my stuttering was the cause and if it could be something else, maybe upping the dose on my other meds would help (i also suffer from depression but that has mostly gotten better). I had had a bad reaction the last time I had taken a higher dose of my other meds so that wasn't going to help. After a lot more questioning he told us about a psychiatrist who could help me. In the meantime he prescribed me some medication to help with the anxiety though it was just a very low dose to start at. I had only just started taking it two days ago so the full effects haven't yet kicked it yet but it has helped some and you should definitely try it. The one I was prescribed is called Buspirone so ask your doctor about or see if there is something else but definitely give it a try.
