I worked in adult neuro/acute care. I am an SLP. My stuttering exploded briefly in acute care because I projected on my listeners "as an SLP I can't ever stutter!" A self-fulfilling prophecy.. I had to talk to doctors, families, administer tests at the bed side (some oral reading), and even speak over the intercom! I know nurses and doctors who stutter. There is one in the Atlanta NSA chapter (liz). Go for it.
