Yes, I completely understand what you mean. You’re referring to the overly optimistic avoidance perspective that aims to quench all reasonable internal strife and pain that we feel. I presume like most of us, are not of the former. A little venting here: I also have social anxiety as well and it’s made my dating journey as barren as a wasteland. The classic mannerisms of a modern man, being able to make eye contact while speaking as I’m a straight 29 yo black male, is insurmountable due to my stuttering exacerbated by my social anxiety. I found that looking away or briefly closing my eyes helps me make it through word blocks that I can’t quickly find a synonym for. Do you find yourself closing your eyes when speaking to someone or looking away and a word block spontaneously arises?
