Speaking more slowly has been a gamechanger for me

Speaking more slowly has been a gamechanger for me My stuttering has had a pretty detrimental effect on my social life, as I"m sure many of you can relate to. Recently I listened to myself on my phone and realized that I spoke very quickly, and when I stuttered when speaking with a quicker pace, it had a **more negative effect on how I was perceived in comparison to when I spoke slowly.** So I have been forcing myself to speak more slowly and have found that those around me want to **talk to me more and for longer, find my jokes funnier, and I feel like I am liked more now as well.** There is a constant battle in my mind though as I often enjoy speaking quickly, and believe that "today is the day that I have gotten over my stutter" every few days or so. Eventually I go back to speaking quickly and then hit a block, and get hit with typical reactions to stuttering from others that all of us are too familiar with (people walking away when you stutter, looking at you funny etc.) Whereas when I hit a stutter when I speak slowly, it seems to be **much less perceptible** and people don't seem to react in the same way, and will **continue treating you as if you didn't stutter**. Granted, that you don't stutter too much lol
