Maybe not all of them but I'm one of those who experienced it. I was bullied when I was in elementary school and it was traumatizing for me. It was math class and we were told to read the questions aloud one by one. When it came to my part, I was too nervous and told the friend beside me to take my place. But it was too late, all eyes were on me until my teacher asked, "Why can't you read it? Are you mute?". Well, that hurts. Coupled with my friends laughing loudly, some even shouted that I was a graduate of a special needs school. But luckily getting here, I started to have many friends who tried to understand my situation. But the trauma and fear of stuttering still haunts me. I hope you never experience it and yes... hopefully there will be no more duplicates from the teacher with an attitude like my old math teacher :/ For OP, maybe you can try to reach the kid and occasionally talk about his day at school or maybe just joke with him. I think it's usually easier to talk to people who have the same difficulty or who have experienced it before. But idk, maybe trying to keep him entertained could be one solution. Anw, good luck! I hope your student are doing well in the future.
