It's really crazy to think about because we all know unequivocally that this is true yet I cannot figure out why speech-language therapists deployed in schools, privately, et c. almost always approach the issue phonetically, focusing on the mechanics of enunciation when this fact is proof that it is a kind of social and interpersonal issue rooted in anxiety and other psychological correlates. I read once that the physical manifestation of stuttering is only the tip of the iceberg of the true psychological and neurological sequelae and differences associated that are as yet unexplored. That kind of blew my mind.
