Are people really that consistent over the years?  I had a very severe stutter over the phone and other places but over time and with a particular fortitude, that went away.  I could say i grew out of it but it was too coincidental.  So though I can say I am mild now, I know what it is like to be severe and by the time I got to the third word of a sentence, I was spent!   Do people really believe there is a consistentcy to this that they can put themselves on part of a line for life and say this person is always mild while I am more severe so they can't relate?
