From 2012 to 2016, he definitely aged a lot, physically, and I could definitely see that impacting his stutter. He was known as a "gaffe machine" for his entire career. The "Barack America" gaffe is from 2008, for example, and was just him stuttering and struggling and then throwing out the wrong word.
