This sounds like social anxiety, in addition to not being confident with your speech. I have a feeling that even if you didn't stutter, you still wouldn't be able to talk and meet new people? I say this because I personally have a moderate stutter (and it's obvious) but I have never considered not having a job, not going to college, etc because of it. Mental therapy, speech therapy, practicing speaking out loud, and just taking the step of being vulnerable and doing things that terrify you (order food at a restaurant), etc. can help.
