I've been stuttering since I could speak. It was the same me for me! It's like fear of public speaking amplified. My only advice is to keep talking. Take jobs that require you speak a lot (like retail) or join a club that requires lots of discussion (like a book club). I tell ya, I got real desensitized and all my anxiety flew out the door when I... GET THIS... took a job in a call center. My husband lost his job and I was pregnant with my second child, so it was also out of necessity, but I did it. And the first few weeks was nearly panic attack city, but then it got easier. I'm in my 30s today and it's SO much better. Now, I'm really upfront about my stutter. My coworkers know I'll stutter on the phone or have a hard time getting words out when I'm PMSing or caught of guard. It happens, but I don't think of my stutter obsessively like a used to. It does get easier as long as you don't withdraw. Good luck to you! You got this.
