I had one as well, it wasn't really effective for me. Those that want to do more research, it's actually the "choral" effect, and the process is known as DAP, or delayed auditory processing. The frequency shift and slight delay tricks the brain into thinking someone else is speaking, so the brain can mimic what's being said. It doesn't really work on starting a word, but helps you to continue speaking after you start.
