You might find your stutter, and your attitude towards your own stutter, changing as the years roll by. Your confidence changes and your comfort within your own body changes which can dramatically impact how you speak and how you feel like you speak. So, don't imagine how you think and speak now will be how you are in the future. You also will find a big difference in the types of people you communicate with between a Subway customer and a person seeking help from a trained professional. The tolerance and acceptance of stuttering amongst academics and professionals is far, far greater than in the general public. Finally, we don't know what the future holds for stuttering therapies. In 5 or 10 years time there may be some miracle treatment that dramatically increases fluency. It would be terrible to look back on your decision to not follow your dreams when a new solution arrives. So, stick with your dreams. Don't let worry hold you back. Sometimes these challenges make us stronger and builds our confidence which has a positive impact on not only our speech but our overall self-esteem.
