my stutter is still with me. most of the time it's not present, but sometimes I can feel blocks coming on and I use the tools from the course to help me overcome. so rather than simply changing the word to an easier word to say, I might use some deliberate disfluency to help. or if I came anxious and feel my chest tighten, I can pause and relax to speak in a calm way, without stuttering through the blocks. the mental side changed too. I was always afraid of doing silly things in public in case I was judged, but the program helped me to overcome those fears and just be myself. the funny thing is, I told my friend about the course right away when I finished. but it took him several months for him to join. the trigger for him was when a group of us were at a friend's house ready to go out into town, I was the one who volunteered to phone for a taxi (it really was 20 years ago!)
