I have two degrees, the first was in accounting and finance and I worked in the field for 5 or so years before going back to school in a different field. Depending on your position, you can get away with minimal talking if that's what you're looking for. Clerks and A/P or A/R positions require some phone work, but in this day and age most contact can be done over email. I was a controller for a while and I rarely used the phone. The most talking I did was in meetings with executives and external banking personnel. For the most part, if you work for a company vs a tax or accounting firm you'll be working on a computer and making contact with people in your own company and occasionally external clients. I was never a tax accountant so I don't know if their day-to-day had different circumstances, though I imagine they'd have a lot more client contact. I'd say it's on the less-stressful side if you're worried about your stutter.
