I think the sentiment is genuine. The women who I have dated who have called my stutter cute meant it as a compliment. As if it doesn’t matter that I have it and they like it. It’s comforting. At the same time, I always explained how much my stutter has hurt me. I still allowed them to call it cute, but I wanted to make sure they knew my stutter was something that wasn’t always a positive for me.
