Stutters helping stutters- Non profit advice? Hi everyone! I’m looking for some advice into somehow getting into an organization or possibly starting my own organization to help fellow stutters. I want to tell people of all ages that we HAVE a voice and to never give up! Little background about myself: I’m almost 30 in March, very grateful to do what I’m passionate about by traveling the world DJing, produce a music festival in California called Desert Hearts (Going on 8 years in April) that’s based on house, techno, love & self expression. Ever since I could remember I grew up with a speech impediment. I couldn’t even say my name for 25 years until I met a speech therapist that changed my life. I was in speech therapy my whole life all the way through college, and despite all the efforts of exercises, breath work, and all the above, nothing seemed to help. I pretty much gave up, until my dad recommended one last therapist. On the 2nd session, he drew this iceberg that was the top part above the water was 10% conscious mind, and 90% below was my subconscious mind. He literally told me it was all in my head, and i don know if it was the simple way he worded it, but something released a trigger in my head that changed everything. I literally walked out of that session and felt my fluency went from very poor to about 80% more fluent. Since then my fluency has improved tremendously and I’m just looking for some help to spread that wisdom with others/hope to be a motivation speaker outside of my career! If anyone could point me in the right direction or know of any organizations or what I can do to start my own. I want to show the world and other fellow stutters that you can be successful even when you feel like you don’t have a voice. Because WE Do! Much love, thanks
