Is it a Good Idea to be a SLP while a PWS? Is it a good idea to study to be a speech language pathologist when you’re a person who stutters? I’m at an inflection point in my life and might go back to school to be a SLP. I stutter, it’s a mild stutter that I can keep concealed if I try hard enough. I’ve never had speech therapy before, but I would hope that I could figure out more about my stutter as I study. I recently accepted that I stutter and that it’s not just social anxiety that makes speech difficult for me (I’m on the cusp of 24). The bigger question for me is if this is a good idea. In about a week I’m supposed to complete my bachelor’s degree in political science. It took me five years to get this far, but I feel a calling to something completely different now. I don’t know, life is weird. Anyway, sorry for the long post. Just let me know what you think. Thanks.
