I think I probably was seen as retarded or disliked in class because I didn’t do the speaking exams for my mandarin class because of how bad my stammer was, on the other hand I was really good at writing mandarin characters, forming correct grammar and sentences on writing exams and projects. I feel guilty that my mandarin teacher gave me full credit on speaking tests I never even done but I’m glad she was understanding of me but others aren’t so understanding as they say to me “you didn’t present because you’re lazy or slow” it takes the piss but people won’t understand. Hopefully we meet people who don’t think of us as slow but normal people in the coming year of 2024
