My recover was through psychotherapy. My stuttering was caused by an abusive childhood and having never adequately dealing with my anger and resentment toward my family. I was 70 at the time and felt I’d wasted my life stuttering. I’m fully fluent now and I try to encourage others. Not all stuttering has the same cause. Mine happened to be caused emotionally, but there is an emerging school of research showing that stuttering can be physiological and treatable with medication. This has been successful and phase 3 clinical trials are in progress. If you’re interested, go to YouTube ‘Dr. Gerald Maguire’. I’m really stoked about this. Dr. Maguire is the real deal, a department head of the neuro -psychiatric department at California State University, Fullerton Medical school. He’s also a stutterer! Best of luck, Sue
