I'm a stuttering web developer. I've been a web dev since about 2000 (yes, we had the Internet back then) and I've stuttered my entire life. I've worked from home for about 11 years. My company is a small web dev shop (less than 10 people), so we all know each other pretty well. In the average week I usually don't speak with clients at all. Once in a while I need to be on a call with a client that can last up to a couple hours. I have never had a client say anything about my speech. I'm usually on the phone with coworkers about 1 to 3 hours a week. Most of the communication is written, which is actually great for record keeping and just knowing what the job requirements are. We only need to make a phone call when we have a complex issue that needs to be discussed and it would take more time to type it all up. As far as impacting opportunities, that's really hard to say. I've had probably 6 solid job offers in the past 10 years, so either I was able to muddle through the interviews well enough or they just care more about the quality of work then the difficulty speaking.
