Whenever I meet a new person and stutter, I instinctively say, “ sorry — I have a stutter”. 95% of the time they’re totally cool about it and say “no problem, take your time.” The other 5% of the time I can’t get that explanation out fluently. So clearly there’s a flaw in my approach...
