A lot of work is based on managing feelings about stuttering, anxiety etc (the iceberg), reducing avoidance, desensitization, educating parents/ teachers on how best to support a kid who stutters, releasing tension through 'easy repetitions', definitely not trying to 'cure' it, I'm sorry if you had a bad experience of SLT though, I know in the past the approach was much more about trying to 'fix' a stutter, and it was 100% wrong
