A few months of good speech therapy and a lisp can be corrected. Stuttering is life even with good speech therapy. A lisp is how you produce a sound. It is a pattern you have developed that can be corrected fairly easily. Stuttering is a neurological speech motor disorder! Source: I am a speech language pathologist who has treated hundreds of both frontal and lateral lisps, and have treated stuttering.
