Year 3 Dissertation Hi! I will be carrying out a 3rd year online dissertation and I was wondering if anyone would be interested in partaking in it. As someone who stutters, singing has always been a therapeutic tool for me as when I sing, I do not stutter at all. However, I do think familiarity and music genres play a role in this. For example: Ed Sheeran was able to overcome his stutter by rapping Eminem lyrics but I am aware that does not work for everyone. Some people may show a lot of fluency in singing Soft Pop and this is exactly what I want to investigate. My study involves the role of lyric familiarity and genre in fluency in singing amongst individuals who stutter.
