The "doing it for attention" narrative eventually died out when it became quite apparent that I was absolutely not doing it for attention. I'm an adult now but this is all behind me. When you have any kind of unfortunate difference from the norm you learn to develop a thick skin. I was just wondering if anyone else went through the same thing but apparently it's not so common as I assumed. Oh well.
