Definitely this. I know it’s hard to do because it’s not something you like about yourself. It’s incredibly hard. But for me it’s brought a little peace. The right people will see you and love you for the person you are, the stutter’s just a small part of you. If someone doesn’t value you, distance yourself from them. Set boundaries. You don’t need that negativity in your life. Whenever I meet someone new and inevitably struggle to say my name or speak fluently in general, I can tell the person I’m talking to feels uncomfortable because they don’t understand what’s going on or haven’t been around that before. I just laugh and say I have a speech impediment so this is how I sound. That usually helps the awkwardness because now they know. Secondly, spend some time learning new hobbies or meditating. Exercise. Read some good books. Learn to code. Find things you’re good at and enjoy. Learn to appreciate other qualities about yourself. Because you are a person worth knowing.
